The journalism students from the Tshwane University of Technology say they were extremely exited to be in the mother city Cape town for thier annual 2nd year students parliamentary visit.
The trip was from the 9th to the 16th of September, where the students were accomodated at Sea Points Amalfi holiday apartments. The trip was aimed at giving the studence a first hand experience in a press conference and political reporting. This was done by visits to media house News24, Robben Island and parliament chambers(in the presents of the president and members of parliament). "Being in Cape town was the most exciting experience for me , and i even plan to move here and persue my career in journalism here," said student Thabang Kuaho.
Senior journalism lecturer, Fannie Groenewald, says it is always great to bring their students to Cape town and that the at TUT journalism they always try to bring theory to practice to the best of their abilities. "These students also have alot of time to their hands to experience the beauty of the city of Cape town," he said.
Most students say apart from academics, they really enjoyed the nightlife in Cape town especially in Long street which is famous for its multiple clubs with a variety of cultures. "It was more like the spring breaks we see in American movies," said a student Cebisile Mkhize.
